Restaurants and tasting locations
Every place where people drink wine can have a page in Vinify: restaurants, wine bars and any other place a user names when they write a tasting note. A location page shows the address with directions, links to booking, the website, the food menu and Instagram, the tasting notes written there and, in the iOS app, the recommendations people left. When the place runs its cellar in Vinify, the page also shows its wine list: on iOS the full list with search and filters, on the web the wine lists the place has made public. Users can follow places that use Vinify. The iOS and Android apps have a screen called Where to drink good wine that lists the places near you or in a chosen city, and Android has a Top wines list of wines served at restaurants that use Vinify.

How to use it
Open a location page
A place name on a tasting note, in search results or on a wine profile opens the location page. The page shows:
- The place's photo (or a map when there is no photo), its name and its address. Directions opens your maps app or Google Maps.
- Buttons for Book a table, Website, Food menu and Instagram, when the place has them (web).
- The place's wine list, when the place uses Vinify. Otherwise the page asks Is this your place? (web) or Do you own this place? (iOS) with a Contact us link.
- The tasting notes written at the place, newest first.
Find places near you or in a city
- On iOS, open Discover and tap See all next to Closest restaurant or wine bar or Popular wine locations. On Android, tap the locations shortcut on the home screen.
- The screen Where to drink good wine lists the places close to you with their distance. A blue badge shows how many wines the place lists in Vinify, or PDF when it has a PDF wine list.
- Tap Choose city (iOS) or the City chip (Android) to pick one of the city guides or search for any place.
- Tap a place to open its page (iOS).
Follow a place
On the iOS location page, tap Follow next to the place's name. Following works for places that run their wine list in Vinify. Tap Following, then Unfollow, to stop. Your followed places are listed under your profile's following list.
Recommend a place
On iOS, tap Recommend on a location page or on Where to drink good wine to recommend the place with a comment and a photo. See the recommendations article.
For restaurant owners (web)
When you are logged in with the cellar that owns the place, the web location page shows Change image, a pen on the logo, and Edit your wine list, which opens your wine lists in the cellar.
On mobile
iOS. The location page has everything above, plus:
- Tasting notes and recommendations with the total count. Read opens the full feed (Latest) with a switch between large and compact cards. You can edit or delete your own notes and check-ins there.
- A row of recommendation cards; See more opens the feed at that card.
- For places that use Vinify, Official wine list with the number of wines, who updated it and when, a search field and filter chips (category, country and region, and more). The list is grouped by category and country or region, and a header sticks to the top while you scroll. Tap a wine to open its profile.
- For places with only a PDF link, Wine card (PDF) opens it.
- The share button shares a link to the place's web page.
Android. Where to drink good wine? lists places within 20 km with chips for City, Tasting location and Store. The place list cannot open a location page yet. Top wines lists wines served at restaurants that use Vinify, with the price range across those restaurants, the restaurant names, ratings, filters and sorting; you can bookmark a wine or add a quick taste. Your followed places are under your profile's following list, where you can follow or unfollow them.
Common questions
How does a place get into Vinify?
A user adds it when they write a tasting note or check in at a place, or a restaurant creates it when it signs up for a Vinify cellar.
Why does one place have a wine list and another does not?
The wine list comes from the place's own Vinify cellar. Places that do not use Vinify can only show a link to a PDF wine list, if Vinify has one.
Why can't I follow a place?
Following works only for places that run their wine list in Vinify.
What do I get when I follow a place?
The place appears in your following list. The unfollow message says you are notified about wine list updates and activity at the place.
I own a restaurant. How do I get our wine list on our page?
Tap Contact us on your location page, or sign up for a Vinify cellar. Your wine lists then show on the page.
Why is my city not in the city list?
The city list shows Vinify's city guides. Use the search field to pick any other place.
Why don't I see stores on "Where to drink good wine"?
The screen shows restaurants and wine bars with a wine list. Stores are in the store finder.
