Profiles, following and rankings
Every Vinify user has a profile with a picture, name, wine level or job title, a short bio and links to a website and Instagram. The profile lists the person's public tastings and recommendations and shows statistics: how many wines they rated and tasted, their favorite styles, countries, regions and producers, and their average score. You can follow other users to see their new tasting notes in the Following feed on the home screen, and see who follows whom. Rankings list the most active reviewers on Vinify overall and per wine region. Profiles, following and rankings are in the iOS and Android apps; the web shows a read-only profile page. Profiles and the user search are open to everyone, signed in or not.

How to use it
Open a profile
Tap a user's name or picture on a tasting note, in a follower list or in a ranking. Tap your own picture or the profile tab to open your own profile.
A profile shows:
- The picture (with a gold border and a check mark for experts), the name and the wine level or job title.
- The bio.
- Counts for Rated, Tasted, Recommendations, Followers and Following. Following includes the restaurants and bars the person follows.
- Two tabs: Activity with the person's tastings and recommendations, and Stats.
On your own profile you also see Edit profile (or the settings icon) and, on iOS, a Sessions tab for Wine taste sessions.
Follow someone
Tap Follow on a profile or next to a user's name on a tasting note. The button changes to Following. Tap it again to unfollow. The person gets a notification when you follow them.
New tasting notes from people you follow appear in the Following tab on the home screen.
Followers and following lists
Tap Followers or Following on a profile to open the lists. Search by name. Your own row is shown first when you are in the list. On your own Followers list you can remove a follower. The Following list starts with Wine locations, the places you follow.
Stats
The Stats tab shows:
- Your rank on Vinify for the last 7 days, the last 12 months and all time, and your average score.
- Top styles as a chart.
- Rated countries, rated regions and top producers, each with the average score and number of ratings. Tap a list to see all entries, sort them and open the tasting notes behind them.

Common questions
Can other people see my private tasting notes?
No. Your profile shows your private notes only to you.
Why doesn't my rank change right away?
Rankings are recalculated once a day.
How are rankings calculated?
Region rankings order users by the number of their wine reviews from that region. The overall ranking counts all time, not a rolling period, and Vinify recalculates it every night from users' reviews.

You can remove a follower from your own Followers list. They can follow you again.
Can I follow people on the web?
Not yet. Follow people in the iOS or Android app.
Who counts as an expert?
Experts are wine professionals marked by Vinify. Their profile picture has a gold border and a check mark.
