Notifications
Notifications tell you when something happens around your wine activity: someone likes your tasting note, someone you follow publishes a note, someone starts following you, or someone tags you in a note or a recommendation. You get them as push messages on your phone and in the notifications list in the iOS app. Vinify can also send push messages about new articles. In the settings you choose which push messages you want.

How to use it
The notifications list (iOS)
Tap the bell on the Discover screen or on your profile. The list shows your notifications, newest first, with the person's picture or the wine's picture, a short text and the time. New notifications since your last visit are highlighted. Tap a notification to open:
- the tasting note, for likes, new notes from people you follow and tags in notes;
- the person's profile, for new followers;
- the place, for tags in recommendations.
Pull down to refresh. Opening the list marks all notifications as read.
Push messages
When you allow notifications, Vinify sends push messages for the same events. Tap a push message to open the notifications list; a push about a new article opens the article.
Choose your push messages (iOS)
In the notifications list tap the gear icon, or open your profile settings. Switch on or off:
- News articles
- Tasting notes from people you follow
- Likes on your tasting notes
If notifications are turned off for Vinify in iOS settings, the screen shows a banner that opens the iOS settings, and the switches are greyed out.
On mobile
iOS. The notifications list, push messages and settings all work on iOS.
Android. The Android app has the settings for tasting notes and likes, but no notifications list and no push messages yet.
Web. The web does not show notifications.
Common questions
Why do I get a push when someone follows me even though I turned notifications off?
The switches cover tasting notes from people you follow, likes and news articles. Follows and tags are always sent while notifications are allowed for Vinify on your phone.
Why didn't I get a push for every like?
If the same person likes, unlikes and likes your note again within ten minutes, you get only one notification.
Can I get notifications on Android?
Not yet. You can set your preferences in the Android app, and they apply when you use iOS.
Which notifications does Vinify send on its own?
One: a push when a new article is published on the Vinify blog, checked every hour. Everything else comes from people: likes, new notes from people you follow, follows and tags. You choose what you get in the notification settings of the app.
How do I turn off all notifications?
Turn off notifications for Vinify in your phone's settings.
